    Status report -

    built the tool show in above links using a large (.25" diam) nail. Depressed the forward portions of the rear mag lips until they were about .182".

    Went to range - NO jams. Checked a round after it loaded and could not find any damage to the nose from being thrown into the chamber.

    I fixed the same problem by cutting 3 links off the recoil spring, after fitting a new recoil spring.
