Re: .22-250 vs .204 Ruger vs .22 Hornet
Hi. New forum participant here. I have to say the I have done a lot of hunting and even did a stint as a guide back in the sixties. Yeah, I am old too. My point is that I used a 22 Hornet for years and was consistently satisfied with the results. I have always been a proponent of accuracy and taking time to make it one shot, one kill. We all have had a deer or elk or whatever, run at the last split second, but other than that, I have never missed and my 22 Hornet never failed me. That's my experience. I would put my Hornet up against either the 22-250 or the .204 out to 300 yards any day. Not trying to start any stuff but I really like the Hornet.

Re: .22-250 vs .204 Ruger vs .22 Hornet
Damn. Got me again. Anyway, been handloading for .22-250 since 1971 and love the cartridge. But the original question asked about recoil. My barrel is 1-1/8" by 27 inches on an Arisaka action. I think its 16+ pounds, so I have no idea what the (basically non-existent) recoil is.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
