NFA in Berks County
Has anyone from Berks county gotten a CLEO signoff recently?

Re: NFA in Berks County
i had one signed at the end of November and I dropped it off on a Friday around Noon. I got a call about an hour later...I missed it, but it was from the Sheriff to see if I wanted to just pick it back up. He ended up sending it back to me and I got it the next day Certified mail...hence the $5 fee when I dropped it off. It should be no problem at all for you.
Have fun,

Re: NFA in Berks County
Who signs the paperwork? I'm thinking of building an SBR, but I'm still confused about all of the bullshit we have to go through. Does the chief of my local PD sign it, or someone in the main courthouse in Reading?

Re: NFA in Berks County
Did you guys also get your fingerprints done while dropping it off?

Re: NFA in Berks County
I had my fingerprint cards done at the State Police Barracks on Kenhorst Blvd. The do them in the evenings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from what I remember. Just make sure and call first to make sure that the Crime Scene officer will be there before you go. Of course real police work trumps fingerprint cards. It was free.
BCDave,
You need the Sheriff to sign off on the form, so that would be Eric J. Weaknecht in the courthouse in Reading.

I've never gone through the NFA process myself, but everything I've heard indicates that Sheriff Weaknecht has no problems signing the forms.

Re: NFA in Berks County
I did my prints at the courthouse in Reading after work when I went in to drop off my papers to get signed. You have to go to the basement where the deputies will do your prints. It's an interesting experience as you have to walk through the holding area and you get to see some interesting things, at least I did.

Re: NFA in Berks County
You can also roll your own fingerprints...I would suggest having someone help you so that you can make your hand/fingers limp and allow them to roll them. I used to do this before I started a Gun Trust, which doesn't require prints, photographs, CLEO....etc
