Default Those JACKASSES with the Banner

Now the Black Caucus wants a Criminal Investigation into those responsible for making and holding up the Banner.
That was a Damn Foolish Act on their part!

The sign was "over the top," Cruz said, but he said attendees had a right to express their opinions. He said people outside of Philadelphia don't understand what it's like in a city where "five or six killings" happen a day.
In the rest of Pennsylvania, "they don't hunt human beings like they do in Philadelphia," said Cruz, whose bill is before the House Judiciary Committee

That's interesting read there. He basically made himself look more like a jackass. Philly has like 128 murders thus far this year (the first article). That is not even 2 a day. Yet he claims they have 5 or 6 a day.

Plus by him saying in Philadelphia, wouldn't that be a city issue and not a state? He is misguided and I have never seen or met him.

Nothing is going to happen. The banner represents the fundamental purpose of the 1st Amendment, which the US Supreme Court has consistently backed. The Court views the fundamental purpose of the 1st Amendment, before any other, as the right of the people to speak out against the Government. The language used, clearly shows that it was political speech.

You know, when People start to play the race card, there should be a law that dictates just how far they can go. There where many white people who where lynched as well in American history. Was not all about Mexican and Blacks.
Im am sure when T. Jefferson wrote "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." he did not intend it to mean only certain races as the Patriots where mainly whites.

For any one to take a quote like that and twist it into a racial thing claiming terrorism, they have to be a few fries short of a happy meal.

They are calling for the lynching of a Latino. If that ins't racial equality then I don't know what is.

Which reminds me a good joke. I've been called racist many times, and I always respond "I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally"

When it was time for the group photo, those jackasses got up on the steps with the sign. They deliberately waited until it was picture time. More than half of the people, like me, stayed out of the picture.

I would not doubt if the guys with the sign work for Cruz.

I haven't seen the banner but the cynic in me wants to wonder if it was an anti 2ndA that wanted to show the rally supporters in a bad light.

The York Dispatch has a story on it, along with a comments section. Text of my posting in the comments:

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

What Rep. Cruz fails to understand is manyfold, not just one issue.

The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania CLEARLY states: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms in defence of themselves and the state shall not be questioned" - Section 21. Stronger language supporting the peoples' RIGHT, not PRIVILEGE, to bear arms than the United States Constitution. "SHALL NOT BE QUESTIONED".

A privilege may be taxed. Your driver's license is a privilege - you pay a fee (tax). I have a RIGHT under our State and US Constitutions to keep and bear arms. A RIGHT may not and should not be taxed. Paying $10 per year per firearm? And if your "renewal" or "registration" is denied, turn your PERSONAL PROPERTY OVER TO THE STATE? Anyone ever hear of the word "illegal forfeiture"???

And, no, Rep. Cruz, the government does not have the RIGHT to keep an inventory of my personal items in my household. If I remember my history correctly, Hitler had a similar program, and we all remember how that turned out.

It is a proven fact that when people have the ability to arm themselves (i.e. concealed carry), crime goes down. Look at the Maryland area - Baltimore, Wash. DC. Virtually no way to get a carry permit unless you know the governor - and the criminals know you're probably the "fish in the barrel" - no way to defend yourself.

It isn't the law-abiding gun owner that needs to be punished - it's the criminal that uses one. If you're caught carrying and shouldn't be, you go to jail. Misuse a firearm in a crime, you go to jail.

I'll go on record that the sign held up at the State Capitol was inappropriate for the day - especially when anytime someone can call "the race card" out against an opposition group - the message could have been stated better. The message, however, sums up the anger and frustration of hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvania citizens that own and use firearms responsibly every day."

    Pretty good!

I like that you included the full Jefferson quote.
At first I thought you could have explained that part to them, but as I think about it, they likely KNOW what the intent/meaning of the "sign" was and simply saw an opportunity to scream RACIST because that would get the most attention and it would swing the attention in their favor.
(that poor, poor man... he had to endure threats of "lynching" by the hordes of gun wielding, racists - Gimmee a break!)
