I agree with you, those are two of my favorites as well. Band of Brothers was on when I was in college and I had never seen it. Maybe a year ago a buddy of mine had the whole thig on DVD says "here, check this out". Needless to say a case of beer an 12 hours later I was hooked! One of the saddest moments of my young life was seeing a 40 year old Donnie Wahlberg, who magnificently portrays Carwood Lipton, in a ghetto sweatsuit "dancing" down 5th ave in NYC on Good Morning America for the New Kids on the Block reunion!!!

My Dad was 9th Army in Belgium at the Bulge. M1 Carbine and bazooka.

Don't forget (although you are probably too young) the TV show "Combat" with Vic Morrow. Saving Private Ryan could have been an episode or two on that show.

That WWII generation really was the greatest generation. My grandfather was in the Army in WWII. I really wish he was still here to ask him about it.

I did see the series back when it premiered on HBO. All I can say is WOW.

Do any of you recall the original air date of Band of Brothers?

    I can still remember.

It was on a Sunday and I was waiting and waiting for this mini series to start since I had read the book over the summer.

It was Sunday 9 Sept 2001

The irony of that date still sticks in my mind.
    gotta love her ;)
