    Default Optics for AR15

Has anyone here had any experience with optics by a company called "NcStar"? I was looking at one of their scopes, a 'Mark III 3-9x42, rubber armored scope' at the Valley Forge show today. It looked and felt like a quality piece, but figured I would ask here first. Thanks for any input, Bob

NcStar has a bad rap for scopes, but my experience is that the recoil of the .223 rarely tears up an optic.

Never handled one of their scopes, but I did look at a few of their red dot optics before.

To be honest...I would not put one on a paintball gun.

If you wanna good not too expensive scope for the AR-15 I would recommend a Millet DMS-1. I have it on my 20 incher, and freaking love it.

I would recommend a Larue Tactical SPR or SPR-E mount. Rock solid. Love it.

I picked up a NcStar scope for my first AR which i sold. As I understand it (going by what I was told by a more knowledgable friend) NcStar is the civillian side of the manufacturer for the Chinese military, take from that what you will. My friend who bought it has had great sucess with it and enjoys it a great deal as a recreational shooter.
For a rocksolid compact optic I would recommend the Aimpoint T1 (on a LaRue mount of course ) Pat Rodgers has switched to them for the carbines for his courses which to me speaks volumes for their ruggedness, durability and effectiveness if I had to pick one reason to recommend it.

Its a cheap basic scope. I have one attached to the carrying handle of one my ARs and after about 2 years it still works fine despite some mild abuse.

If I was going to buy cheap I think I would look at barska but only because Ive never tried ncstar.

Barska has a few ar scopes that are fairly inexpensive.

theres this one that is just a red dot 1x

then this one that is magnified and pretty short thought it would be decent on an ar maybe not..

I'd not buy another NCstar optic. I ordered two of their little reflex sights and neither worked.
