    Default Gouldsboro range

i took a trip up there today to pop off a few rounds, and i was disgusted at how the range was. it was utterly destroyed. i wish i had a camera. there was nothing left at the pistol side. there was garbage and i mean loads of it, all over the place, and atleast 1000 shotgun shells piled up under the benches. there was no where to put a target. and there was a giant stuffed Spongebob stuck on the metal backer. the place was a serious disappointment.

i drove all that way, popped off maybe 5 rounds at the 50 yard target, and gave up. i just couldnt shoot there with the way the place was left by who ever had been there. it looks like a landfill now. the light rain and mud i can handle, but the range was a disgrace.

i guess its time i join a real gun club or range, and pay for something that is actually taken care of, and cared for. if you dont believe me on how bad it was, go look for yourself.

    vent over.

I have shot at that range a number of times, and have been very disgusted at the way others leave it. When I go, I always clean up any mess I make. I wish every one would take the time to do this, or before you know it, the range will be closed for good!

Sadly.....I don't foresee a long future for this range.

as of lately, ive been going back to the SGL Range in Pike. while some of the people that frequent there, are not the best at safety.... the range is atleast kept up nicely. at least lately it has been. and its actually closer from Canadensis, then the Gouldsboro range is.

that's a damn shame. that was the first real shooting range i ever went to, and that's where i first fired a 1911, a lever action 30-30, and a bunch of other guns, when i first moved to PA (i used to live in Pocono Springs on Rt. 507).

luckily, the Archbald range has been kept up since they reopened. it was never in bad shape. i think the fact that there are more NY/NJ/Philly transplants in Monroe County may have something to do with the downslide.

While I was up there one of the guys told me I should check this one out, it's pretty nice.

I went to SGL 127 a few days ago and here is my reporthttp://forum.pafoa.org/ranges-18/544...oe-county.html.

The place was in shambles. There wasn't too much trash from what I saw, I guess the rangers were actually cleaning up around the area with a bucket from what I saw. The problem lies in the actual equipment being shot to shit by idiots. When you're walking up to the 50 yard posts to put up your targets and see shotgun shells all over the place 15 feet from the targets, you know the place is jacked up. It's slug only, yet theres scatter shot all over the place.

I was at the suscon range last week. It has only been open a few months now. Some of the target backers were already destroyed. It really is a shame.
