Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
Took the AR out yesterday to sight in the new scope I bought and found the trigger to be way too stiff to be consistently accurate. Are there any spring kits I could try to improve the trigger before I either (a) Modify it, or (b) go buy a fancy trigger?
Id like to get off as cheap as possible so I can fund other projects, and Im a Toolmaker so I can do the trigger work if I can get some info on it. Anyone know of any info I could use as to how about setting up the trigger for a 2-3lb pull? This will be mostly a bench rest gun so I may go lighter, but just getting rid if the 8lb trigger would be a start in the right direction.

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
Inexpensive fix, replace the trigger and hammer springs with Wolf or other quality springs. Also, check the mating surfaces of the trigger, sear, and hammer and make sure they are smooth.
Other than that, you're looking at a replacement trigger.

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
I polished the contact points and oiled nicely on my fairly new AR and it got alot better just doing that. Pull is still a bit high but its much smoother now.

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
Is it a new gun, or a build gun? Make sure you have the trigger in correct, and also that no pins have walked. I've personally had to fix triggers more than any other part on home built AR's, then again Anvil Arms helped me out w/ that more than anything.......

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
You can try replacing the springs with better quality, and verifying the hammer and sear are nice and smooth - but there is nothing like a 4lb Timney trigger - IMHO.

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
Or a JP single stage.
Be careful modifying AR trigger parts....they're not thru hardened.
You can run JP reduced power springs, or buy an aftermarket trigger, or just deal with it.
The RRA 2-stage is on the low end of prices, the JP is on the higher end...but it kicks ass.

There is also a trick that taps a fine thread screw though the receiver to limit sear engagement. Couldn't find it in a quick look, but you might with a more dedicated search.

Just buy a better trigger. My Jewells are set to around 2.5lbs.
It's a shame, but they recently went up $70.

Re: Help me fix my AR trigger pull.
Thanks for the info guys!! Yeah, the expensive trigger groups must be nice, but in this climate Id rather buy more guns and ammo so theyll have to wait.
This is what I was looking for! Cheap, simple and should work well. I already have a Superior lower waiting to be built that I could copy the engagement screw from as they come from the factory with this.
Thanks again!
