Re: Allegheny County LTCF renewal
i was correct. you are incorrect...on two counts.
1. you CAN carry. you cannot be convicted (er, well, you might get some idiot judge at the lower levels who does not follow the law and have to appeal) for carrying without an LTCF if you have one that has expired within the last 6 months.
once again, directly from the actual law:
§ 6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.
...
b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not
apply to:
...
12) A person who has a lawfully issued license to carry
a firearm pursuant to section 6109 (relating to licenses) and
that said license expired within six months prior to the date
of arrest and that the individual is otherwise eligible for
renewal of the license.
2. there is no concept of a renewal in the law. the law calls for you to go through the exact same process for a renewal as you do for the first time. so, your interpretation makes no sense. the 6 month grace period would be meaningless if it did not allow you to carry.F*S=k

Re: Allegheny County LTCF renewal
Ok maybe I'm missing something here, said license within six months prior to the date of ARREST. So your saying if I get pulled over for some bs reason and I'm carrying and my ltcf is expired I won't be arrested. I've been carrying for 10 years now.

Re: Allegheny County LTCF renewal
you SHOULD NOT be arrested as you would not be doing anything illegal.
however, people get arrested for doing legal things (for which they should not be arrested) far too often. so, yes, you might get wrongly arrested.
however, you cannot be convicted (without a complete breakdown of the judicial system) as you will not have been doing anything illegal.
bottom line is that you can legally carry within 6 months after your LTCF expires (if you still qualify to have one).F*S=k

Re: Allegheny County LTCF renewal
I went into the city today to pick up my LTCF.
The camera wasn't working right ( I really don't think I broke it even after having been accused of this in years gone by).
This LTCF was different than the last one.
The guy had to go through the laminating process. I was pretty sure the last one was not laminated but printed on.
Anyhow, the laminating process cost me an extra few minutes and added $7 to the parking fee. Oh well, I'm good to go till i'm 66.

Re: Allegheny County LTCF renewal
Butler was 5. 10 if you count the fact that you have to walk into the new courthouse, up to the 3rd floor, and over an enclosed walkway bridge and down two flights to get to the Sheriff's office.
I'm glad I live where I live and not 10 miles south. Of course, neither place are Philly, so that's a plus.
