    Default Suppressor design

After going through silencertalk I saw a picture of a sterling where they guy disassemble the suppressor. The thing that caught my attention was the part that is pictured below.

Anyone have any opinions on how a can with a core like this would perform?

I know that there are cans were the core looks like this: / / / / / /

I don't have any person expreience with this design, but I know it's a more labor intensive process for this.
Dr. Philip Dater would be the man to talk to (@ Gemtech). I beleive he has the most knowledge about this design.
I know it was originally on the british .45 acp DeLisle carbine, and there's a fellow building a copy of this rifle. I don't know iffn it's the same baffle design. www.specialinterestarms.com

Thanks for the info ... I think this design is very interesting. I can see how it would a lot more labor intensive then milling out a monocore baffle; but that's not that important to me. I might have to try and talk to Dr. Dater

I independently came up with a design a lot like that. I'm not sure how mine would have been fabricated. But it used a spiral shaped baffle much like the one photographed that was one piece. Also the baffle was sheared so that the outer edge of the ramp was down pressure from the bore edge.

The big problem I saw with the design, apart from the complexity, was that even though gas would be taking the long way down, there was not much more than the friction of flowing through a long, flattened tube to slow it down. There is no more expansion than in a conventional Maxim style design.

The bottom line is that you can get the same performance from simpler to fabricate designs.

Doesn't stop it from being cool though.
