SIG 229 9mm vs M&P9 9mm Concealed Carry
I'm having a hard time making up my mind between these two. I know the MP is a little smaller and lighter, and SIG cost a little more. I've shot them both and like them both...I think they both shoot very very well. I know is all personal preference. Looking for any words of wisdow.

Re: SIG 229 9mm vs M&P9 9mm Concealed Carry
I'm not a fan of the M&P at all as mine has been nothing but trouble BUT...assuming your M&P is good to go that is what I would choose.
It's smaller and much lighter and is simple to use as it only functions one way just like Glocks and similar guns. Pull the trigger and boom. No external safeties, decockers or double/single action differences to worry about.
If you're still considering the Sig, I would recommend the DAK trigger for a carry gun. It also has no external safeties or decockers to worry about and has a smooth even trigger pull that's 6.5 lbs and very very nice. WAY better than the M&P. In addition to being DAO like the M&P it also has "second strike" capability which means if you get a "click instead of a "bang" you can just pull the trigger again without racking the slide.
I have a sig229 DAK and love it, the only reason I wouldn't pick it immediately for CCW is that it is quite heavy and it doesn't carry as many rounds.
My other choice is a G19 which most would agree is similar to your M&P.
If you do get an M&P for a carry gun I would personally recommend one without the magazine safety. Considering mine likes to drop the magazine regularly a magazine safety could potentially leave you with one round to solve your problem.

Re: SIG 229 9mm vs M&P9 9mm Concealed Carry
assuming the sig has a DA/SA trigger (i think the 229 is available with different triggers, but i'm not sure)...
i would take the M&P.
imho, DA/SA triggers are to be avoided on carry guns. 'tis much better to have a consistent trigger press on a gun you may need to use under extreme stress.F*S=k

Great choices. You really can't go wrong either way.

Re: SIG 229 9mm vs M&P9 9mm Concealed Carry
Carry the one that you shoot best and can conceal best. No one gun fits all. I love the Sig P229 and carry one alot. I do not have the M&P but this is also a fine pistol.
I personally choose the Sig 229 because it fits my hand really well, I practice with it, and I shoot it well. My carry Sigs are all DAK triggers because I like the same trigger press rather than transitioning from double to single action.
The Sig 229 is a bit harder to conceal than the M&P without a cover garment, but I can conceal one well if I choose a inside the waistband holster (IWB).
I do sometimes choose to carry my Glock 19 because it is sometimes easier to conceal and I also shoot this gun well.
After all is said and done, only you can the choose the gun that is best for you. My personal suggestion is to choose the gun that you like best and have proficiency shooting.
Best regards,
Mike

Re: SIG 229 9mm vs M&P9 9mm Concealed Carry
I can't tell you much about the M&P but I can tell you that a Sig P229 .40 DAK is my main CCW and best friend
The Sigs are on the heavy side compared to some of the other guns out there, but with a good belt and holster, they carry very easily.
Like others have posted, choose the one the fits you and that you shoot the best.
