    Default Revolver question?

I have a Mod. 28-2 S&W. Cock it and there is just a hair of lateral play in cylinder. Safe not safe? Only shot it once many yrs. ago. Would like to start shooting it.

Youre talking just a little play left to right (or vice versa),correct? If so that sounds pretty typical of all revolvers. If in doubt, take it to a gunsmith.

Read the check out procedures in this link:

Make sure you're describing lateral play, or rotational play...two different things.

If you're still not sure, take it to a gunsmith...my guess is (without seeing the revolver) your gun is fine.

Sorry, It has some rotational play. My S&W snubbie locks up tight as a drum.
Thanks Roy, I will check the thread you posted.

Ok do this, unload it cock the hammer and pull the trigger. When the hammer come down keep the trigger depressed. Now look and try and move your cylinder. Should be tite as a drum. There you do if its not tite and its loose alot of play then take it to a smith.
Reputation is what I strive for.
