Sheriff of Centre County very helpful to LTCF holders
My dad just received a postcard from the Sheriff letting him know that his LTCF is going to expire soon and it helpfully suggested that he come in to renew it.
I found that to be incredibly encouraging that the Sheriff not only respects gun rights, but actively encourages people to keep their LTCF up to date. Of all the ways the Sheriff's office could use my tax money, this is something I don't mind at all.

I believe this is in the statutes. It is a requirement.
ETA:
18 Pa.C.S. § 6109: Licenses
(e) Issuance of license.--
5)
(f) Term of license.--
(2) At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each license, the issuing sheriff shall send to the licensee an application for renewal of license. Failure to receive a renewal application shall not relieve a licensee from the responsibility to renew the license.Last edited by TaePo; February 27th, 2009 at 04:56 PM.

Well guess I learned something new. Seems he's not being as nice as I thought.
Thanks for setting me straight!

Don't let the statutes confuse you. He is very pro 2A. He wears a cowboy hat for Christ sake.
He has always signed off on my NFA forms for suppressors/SBRs. Just drop it off and he signs it and will mail it back to you to save the trip to pick it up. And the CCW permit is about a 10 minute process. No waiting, no photograph, walk in, get background check, pay, walk out with CCW permit.
He could be a complete dick and NOT sign of on any NFA paperwork and drag the CCW permit process out and make it a complete pain in the ass.
I will ALWAYS vote for Denny. He's on our side.Last edited by arrrrgh15; February 27th, 2009 at 05:56 PM.
