Default Selling a Handgun to a Person Within PA

I realize there must be a PA background check, and normally this would be done at a police station or dealer if done FTF (right).

However, what if I sell a handgun to someone over on the eastern side of the state, where driving would be impractical. Would I have to have an FFL in Pittsburgh ship the pistol to an FFL near the buyer? Or can I ship the pistol directly to their FFL?

I have asked a few PA residents and have gotten a different answer from each... so I figured I'd come here and ask!

you would ship it directly to their FFL and they will handle the rest of the transaction and do the paperwork with the new owner.

Just make sure the receiving FFL will accept a shipment from a non-FFL. Form what I understand, most will not.

Get in touch with the person you are selling it to. Have them go to the FFL that is going to do the transfer and see what he says. If he will accept, then you ship the gun to the FFL. If he will not, then you will need to go to your FFL and have him send it to the other FFL. You will have to front the money to have the FFL ship it and probably pay him for his time. However, if the buyer is footing the shipping, all those charges would be borne by the buyer.

You can ship it directly to their FFL, but it would probably be cheaper to have your FFL ship it to them since they can use the USPS and you can't.
