There is a vacant building that I am very interested in acquiring, however I've been unable to contact the owner of it at the address in the tax rolls. They either aren't at that address anymore, or are ignoring inquiries.

It's been vacant for a few years now, and has at least four years of back taxes due, according to the county's website (Though it only goes back 4 years, so it may be more!)

Now, I know that there is a way to acquire the deed to a property by paying the taxes, but I have no idea how many years worth you have to pay, or any details on where to start looking for said information, and my Google-Fu is week right now.

This is a beautiful piece of riverfront property that is just rotting away, and I'd love to get my hands on it and make something of it!

You'll have to wait until it goes up on the Sheriff auction for tax foreclosure if you want to acquire it by that means. ...you'll have to outbid the next guy, and the owner generally gets to the last minute to pay up enough to take it off the auction.
