Another Weird OC Encounter...

...and, of course, it was in South Side Scranton.

no one gave me a hard time, i wasn't harassed, it was just something that left me scratching my head.

i leave my gun locked in my car when i'm at work. sometimes i'll leave my holster on, sometimes not. today, i left my entire rig locked up. when i got out, i stopped a few blocks away at a Turkey Hill, and strapped myself. the sweatshirt i was wearing was filthy from taking apart an extruder, so i decided to leave my coat off. my lady called me, and reminded me to pick up a case of soda, and some dog food before i get home.

i really was too tired to go to Price Chopper. honestly. i hate going to Mr. Z's, but i said "fuck it."

i walked in, and kept chanting to myself, "soda and dog food, soda and dog food, soda and dog food, soda, oh, i should get snacks for work, soda, dog food, jerky, soda, dog food, cupcakes, jerky, soda, dog cakes, jerky....wait, oh shit."

so, it took me a minute to get back on track. i grabbed some stuff, including dog food and soda, and waited on line. the check out girl said hi, and asked how i was; we're casually acquainted outside of her work. i then noticed her eyes go past me, and her look change. i turned around, and saw a sheriff's deputy on line behind me. he glanced down, cocked his eye, but said nothing. i just nodded, and said, "hey."

"hello."

i looked down, and looked at his gun. it was definitely a Sig Sauer. there's something about them that's feminine, and sexy, like sports cars. i didn't recognize the model, though.

"that's a Sig, right? is that the 226, or 229?"

"hmm?"

"your gun. the Sig. 226, or 229?"

"oh, i don't know. it's what they issue us. it's a 40 caliber, is all i know."

".40SW? that gets expensive to shoot after awhile, doesn't it?"

"oh, i wouldn't know. i never shoot this thing, except when i need to qualify."

"ah."

"say, i just thought you should know, your gun's showing."

"uh, i know."

"well, people can see it."

"i know. it's legal."

"you got a permit, right?"

mental facepalm.

"i have a license, yes."

"well, alright. you have a good one, buddy."

"you too, brother."

the check out girl gave me a look like, "what was that all about?" as he walked out. i shrugged, while in the background, i heard someone whisper, "aye, yo, that ***** strapped, son! check dat shit out!"

i got my shit, and got outta there.

I think I'm going to e-mail the discovery channel and see if they will do one of those reality shows on you.
