Default Well, i did it 7.62x39

Well, i went against my better judgment and bought 2k rounds of 7.62x39 at an ungodly price of $259 per k plus shipping.

Just a month or 2 ago it was going for $169k. I just can't stop buying it when i'm a little concerned about higher ammo taxes and import bans. Yeah, i know, i'm playing into the frenzy .

I've congratulated people for buying rifles, pistols, and for getting their LTCF, but this is a first for me...

    CONGRATS ON THE AMMO PURCHASE!!!!

If I had the cash, I'd be buying it too.
Right now, my rifles are on a no-brass, limited steel case diet.

I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Thanks for the congrats EM---but i wasn't really looking for it. I was just venting a little bit that i let the frenzy get the best of me. It's just that every time it goes out of stock, when it comes back in it goes up $100. Hell, i'm sitting on about 5k of it already but the warmer months are coming and i want to be sure not to run out.

Long gone are the days of $69/k. Hell, i'm sure we all remember those days. I even remember buying south african 5.56 for about $300 a tub of 2700 rounds in sealed battle packs. We can't even get 1k of 5.56 for $300 today.

In case you didn't know, that stuff is corrosive----not that it matters much but it's best you know so you clean accordingly. I have found it to be pretty darn good brass cased ammo for the price.

Congrats. My last 7.62x39 purchase was 3K of Wolf MC HP for $185 a pop, with free shipping. That was the old pre-Obama price that I managed to get locked in and honored when it was finally delivered around Thanksgiving. I don't think you'll see prices like that any time soon, if ever again.

I just ordered 2k from cabelas the other day for $264 a K, with $5 shipping. Made me sick, last time I bought x39 was 10k rounds, at $60 a thousand.

Buying ammo these days is a tough call, but I think we all know it's not going to get any cheaper although I've heard a few say things will start to "recover" towards the end of March. I highly doubt it. When I find a decent price I buy what I can afford and try to go with only brass cased stuff so I can reload it. Is new and 1X fired brass going to be next in short supply? Wideners has had pretty good prices on ammo and brass for those looking.... Also just picked up XM193 @ $72.60/200 online.
