Yeah, but you're not going to find M61 bullets in commercially available ammo... I'm just saying...

The M61 is 7.62x51 AP The more creative guys are digging up the heads online and then rolling them into 7.62x39 brass.

    Isnt the 7.62x51 a .308 bullet? The 7.62x39 is actually a .311 bullet.

Take your calipers to some Wolf ammo, then shake your head in disbelief. The bullets are 0.308" dia.

Two problems with me doing that. One, I currently do not have any calipers and two I do not currently have any ammo or my rifle for that matter. Remind me to do it later lol

What primers do you use? I've seen recommendations from CCI 200, CCI 250, CCI M34... The 200 and 250 are easy to find around here, but M34 I haven't been able to find anywhere.

You can use either of the CCI large rifle primers (200 or 250). Good luck finding 34s in retail stores. Winchester large rifle primers are also ok. Stay away from all Remington primers and Winchester small rifle primers in semi-autos. The cups are too soft and the unsupported firing pins have been known to cause slam fires. Bad juju.

FYI - Remington brass uses small rifle primers. CCI400 or CCI450 are fine.

I too am just starting to load the 7.62x39 (since wolf more than doubled in price since the last time I bought it)

I found that http://www.bluestarbrass.com/catalog/ is a little pricy for the brass, but has stuff in stock. They also carry the bullets at, what I think, is fairly reasonable.

ETA: Widener's has IMI brass @ $176/1k right now http://wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?i...78|282|286|384
