Default Help me! I live in New Jersey

    Hey guys,

I am new to fire arms and this site and I would like to learn more about the laws in NJ. Is there a site like this one but for New Jersey? I know NJ sucks with gun laws. I definitely see a dramatic price difference between PA and NJ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

My advice would be to move. If you don't, you're doomed.

Sorry Pal, I know guys who live in Jersey and have been gun owners for decades, and still are not familiar with gun laws there.

Their attitude towards gun ownership and the authorities seems to be, don't ask, don't tell.

To answer your question about a Jersey gun forum, if there is one, it is as secretive as your state legislative process.

Your first step should be to visit your local police station and get yourself a New Jersey Firearms ID card. Once you have that, you can buy rifles and ammunition in the state. The card is supposed to take about a month to get, but some smaller towns move a lot slower.

For handguns, you need to go back to the police station and apply for a handgun purchase permit. That's supposed to take about a month or so as well. You can get more than one at a time (for now), and they are good for 90 days from the date of issue.

There is a carry permit available, but it's almost impossible to get unless you are a retired cop or a security guard. If pro NFL stars can't get one, we normal folks have no chance.

The Clinton "assault weapon" ban is pretty much still in effect, except that you can get 15-round magazines. Of course, "assault weapons" are defined as almost any rifle with a bayonet lug or a folding stock, because God knows a gun with a knife on the end of it might be dangerous and an 18" carbine becomes magically concealable if you can fold down the stock.

There aren't a lot of gun stores in South Jersey where I live, but I've been lucky enough to find one I really like (and where I can shoot rifles indoors), Hague's Range in Thorofare.

    1. There is no other site like this... PAFOA is the best! But I suppose you may want to take a look at NJCSD.org

    2. Don't sell NJ short... NJ sucks at a lot more than gun laws

    3. Get your FID in NJ and purchase all the long guns you want in PA. Pistols have to go thru a NJ based FFL and you'll quickly find that whether you buy it at the store or require the transfer from an NJ FFL, you're getting gouged either way.

    4. Start planning your escape now...

There's no site like this one in NJ as far as I know. However, a decent site and a good place to start is:

The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs

But, your best bet is to move outta NJ. That's what I did
