Leo's couldn't possibly carry a 1911 on duty unless the depts allowed it. No mention was made or inferenced as to how many choose that option. The thread title was " WHY DON'T LEO'S CARRY A 1911??", the answer is, many do, and one can look to the list I threw up and make inquiries of the depts listed if they really want to know how many carry one. But that was NOT the OP's question, was it?

Are we now going to have another bout of who's bringing the pails and who's bringing the shovels for recess on the playground? The answer is to the OP's question is quite simply, they do carry 1911/s. "They" can be any number more than 2.

Your list doesn't actually answer the question either. Your list only shows that some departments actually allow it. I'd bet that the number of officers that actually do carry one is fairly low, probably due to the limited capacity.

Because compared to modern firearms, it's not that great.

We carry Glocks because they were the lowest bidder.

Low or high numbers is irrelevant to the question the OP asked. You can be sure there's more than one officer from all those depts that carry an authorized firearm/ I know 3 Pinal Sheriffs I've trained that carry one daily on duty, Pinal is on the list. The number who carry one wasn't the question, only why they didn't carry the 1911. In that regard I've answered the question.

    The answer, they do.

Another reason is ammo. 1911s use .45acp (usually) and most other duty weapons are 9mm or .40S&W. I was actually stopped by a Sheriffs Deputy in AZ (Joe Arpaios boys) that was carrying a Kimber Desert Warrior. So some departments allow it, others don't and others will let you as an option as long as you buy it.

Actually the question was what is highlighted above. An overwhelming majority of LEO's, apparently including the one you cited above don't carry them.

Better check the thread title again, WHY DON'T LEO'S CARRY A 1911?? . That was the threads titled question. I responded to that title question. Asked and answered by THREAD TITLE. I didn't respond to the OP's first post question which was different than the thread title.
