    The buffer tube isn't removable, but the stock is.

    Grab the stock adjustment lever and pull it down (towards the ground if you're holding the rifle in a firing position). You have to pull fairly hard. Then slip the stock back off the "buffer tube". Slip on a single point ring, like this, then slip the stock back on.I can also recommend an easier and cheaper option;

    Buy this 5.11 sling. Then use the included adjustable nylon runner with attached D ring to put on the buffer tube, then you just clip the sling into it. That's what's on my 15 22. Cheap and easy, if you're into the single point stuff.
    It's a pretty good piece of gear for tooling around on the range.

    That is a no go. In order to use that sling attachment point you need to have a removable buffer tube with a castle nut. Which the M&P 15-22 dose not have . you need to look for clamp on mounts give me a minute and i will find one and edit this post.

    Thumbs up Re: Looking For a Single Point Attachment FOr Mp 15-22

    "Slip on a single point ring, like this, then slip the stock back on"

    That single point ring is to be mounted behind the buffer tube nut at the reciever, thats what keeps it in place. GGG and another make a single point that clamps over. they make them for slings and loops for H&K style snaps or mash clips.

    Single point attachments allow a variety of readiness positions for your rifle, however, the thing I do not like about them is they ALSO allow the rifle to bounce all over creation when it is slung to you. Ia assuming this rifle is going to a be trainer for another AR of yours?

    Just a suggestion, but take a look at either a Vickers two pointer, or the Viking Tactics two pointer. FANTASTIC slings, and they give you much better retention.
