Though, they may as well have just gone for the long shot of selling FA M14's as transferrable NFA items... Hell, they'd save the labor of converting the guns, plus they would get a $200 transfer tax on each one.

Signed it as well. I'd love to see this happen, but I sure don't have my hopes up too high. (It makes too much sense! )

I can't imagine they'd "flood the market with baby-killing machine guns" vs converting them to semi-auto. I definitely could see them converting them to semi and still charging the $200 tax because of what it "was".

I had heard that due to the M14’s great success in Iraq / Afghanistan the demilling had stopped and they were scrabbling to get as many into the field as possible. I suspect that the situation as stated in this letter had changed but the end result remains the same:

    No M14 for YOU!

Signed anyway because I sometimes also play the lottery.

It just never ceases to amaze me, that money making opportunity the government is missing out on. If they would just repeal the AWB, but still charge a $200 fee (call it whatever you want) for each type II class weapon... I guarantee, I alone would be giving them thousands of dollars in tax stamps for class II's... Multiply those thousands by the millions of people that would be doing the same. That's a LOT of money they could be making.

I would more than gladly pay them $200... or even $400 is I could buy a class II for a reasonable price..

Instead, it is virtually impossible to buy an NFA registered gun for anywhere near a reasonable price... The main part of what they make comes from suppressors and transfers.

Open up the market and they could cut a huge chunk out of the deficit, I guarantee it...

The govt would make MILLIONS of extra revenue is they allowed sale of class 2 and 3 weapons. They should change what ever law to allow any MG manufactured BEFORE 1986 to be added to the NFA registry, I think that would be easier for politicians to change the NFA then to totally get rid of it. just my $.02

Would you pay $3200 for the stamp, because that is what $200 in 1934 money equals today.
