Ammo prices are still up, why??
Working in the electrical construction business, I see the fluctuation of the metals market on a daily basis. The copper and steel prices have been greatly inflated and highly erratic over the last two years and I'm sure brass has followed along. It may partially explain the high cost of ammo.
BUT........ prices have dropped back to near two year ago prices since August. They can't use the high cost of fuel for an excuse anymore. We should be seeing that reflected in the pricing soon,,,,,, unless they just want to stuff their pockets at our expense, like the oil industry.
Just a thought.

Supply-VS-Demand.... and the battle rages onward. Free market dictates sale price, "what the market will bare".

One name: OBAMA
As long as he is a threat to gun owners, the price of ammo will be high.
Get it now or wish you had it later.

Time to reload, or become friendly with someone who does. Even though the costs of reloading supplies are still up, it's still far cheaper than factory stuff. I'm slowly buying reloading equipment, and some time this summer I hope to have everything I need.
I believe the ammo costs are still up because everybody seems to be hoarding and we seem willing to pay the high prices.
Look at ammoman.com He is out of nearly everything. Never saw that before. You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

BINGO we have a winner.
Selling bullets may be the most secure job in Florida as long as supplies last.
After months of heavy buying, gun dealers across the state are experiencing shortages.
Some say it began with the election of President Barack Obama. Others say it's about the economic downturn or fear of crime. Whatever the reasons, ammunition has been selling like plywood and bottled water in the days before a hurricane.
"The survivalist in all of us comes out," said John Ritz, manager of East Orange Shooting Sports in Winter Park. "It's more about protecting what you have."
More Orlando Sentinel blogs Demand for bullets is so strong that suppliers are restricting deliveries.
"Where we used to get 20 to 30 cases [in a shipment], we may get two to three cases now," said Vic Grechniw of Florida Ammo Traders in Tampa. "The supply just isn't there. . . . Everybody is pretty much rushing out to get their hands on whatever they can."
Most in demand is handgun ammunition, including 9 mm and .45-caliber for semiautomatic pistols and .38-caliber for revolvers. Clerks at local Walmart stores, including Apopka and Kissimmee, say those sizes, along with .22-caliber, are on back order at the chain's warehouses.
American gun owners buy about 7 billion rounds of ammunition yearly, according to the National Rifle Association. It has been warning its several million members that Obama favors raising taxes on bullets to make them prohibitively expensive
