Scoping a Mosin
I just bought a scope mount (goes on rear sight mount) and an Aimsport
long eye relief 2-7x32 scope for my run of the mill 1937 Mosin.Got the long eye relief to avoid modifying the straight bolt.I plan on 100 yd. range fun.
Did I make the right choice.I have a bad habit of impulse buying which sometimes comes back to bite me in the ass.

Re: Scoping a Mosin
For 100 Yard fun, You did fine, You can even call it a Scout Rifle, But you should go for a M91/30 PU -- That's where the Fun starts, Repro's are still fairly cheap, Most claim they are orginial, But I doubt they are 100% ~ Still a lot of Fun though.

Re: Scoping a Mosin
I don't know that I'll be doing a lot of shooting with this rifle.Just occasionally,
and at the range if asked I'm not the type to claim it's a sniper/ex sniper, just a fun gun.BTW I got the mount, scope and rings for $64 all new.Include the $80 out the door for the Mosin and I think I bought a lot of fun for $144.

Re: Scoping a Mosin
What mount did you buy? I realize a scout mount, but brand wise.
For what your planning on it should be fine.
I hope the scope will hold up to the recoil of the rifle same for the scope mount. Locktite those screws with blue locktite.

Re: Scoping a Mosin
Let us know how it works out. I've contemplated doing the same thing one day. Can you provide the specifics of the make/model of mount & scope?

Re: Scoping a Mosin
If you don't want to bend your bolt handle look into rocksolidind they make the best aftermarket parts for the mowing, I put there mount and bolt body on mine and to tell the truth it looks damn good that way, I also have the timney trigger on mine and it definatly pulled my groups in compared to that long mushy stock trigger haven't had a real chance to test her out but I have it sighted at about 100 and seen a decent group maybe about 2in while sighting
