Re: SW MP15 or Colt M4 Carbine?
This is a tough decision. Markings aside it comes down to whether you want to put optics on the rifle or not. Mounting them on the carry handle is an option but it is way better with a flattop. The price difference is significant too. You could buy a rail, vertical foregrip, and some other things such as magazines and ammo with the money. In the end its your call, both companies make a nice AR. I have a Colt upper on mine and the rest of it is a bastard child. My cousin has a S&W which is a nice AR, and if i recall i want to say they use Colt parts, or at least they did when they were first introduced. Try to weigh the pros and cons of each and see if you are going to use optics or not. If not I'd steer you towards the S&W just so you can get other things for it with the money you have saved.

The cost of the Colt does seem like it is the 6920 model. The dealer said the same thing about resale value of the Colt.

I'm going to have to go with Smith & Wesson... I've heard a lot of positive feedback about their customer support... Accessories aren't a problem, little black dress, big black rifle... Fits perfectly... lol

The SW does not have the rail system.

See, I don't like a rifle with a fixed carry handle, but that is just me.
It limits you to what you can do with it.
Your optics would then have to be mounted to the carry handle, and I personally do not like that. It stands up way too high.
S&W does make another model that has a complete flat top, but it is around the same price as the Colt.
IMO, $1795 is a bit high for a 6920 though. I saw two at the Oaks Gun Show last month for $1500.
If you like the Colt and don't what to spend all that money, you could go with this model M&P.
The top is ready for your optics.
