handgun hunting
Had a discussion with an indivudal last night about useing a revolver to hunt deer. This indivudal clamed that only a single action revolver was legal because a double action revolver one only needed to pull the trigger for repeat shots so it's not being manually operated. I read the fireams regs. in the Pa. Hunting and Trapping Digist and could not find a distinct defination of the two as to the legally of the DA.

Re: handgun hunting
Except the Mateba and the Webley-Fosbery
Double Action revolvers are still manually operated. Your finger pulls back on the trigger, manually rotating the cylinder. ...really no different from pulling a hammer back on a Single Action which rotates the cylinder.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: handgun hunting
Single or double action revolvers are allowed. Print this picture and show it to your friend. I took this doe this past hunting season with a "double action" Ruger Super Redhawk.
This is a picture of the first deer I ever took with a handgun. A spike buck (waay back when they were legal to shoot) with the same handgun.

Re: handgun hunting
To sum it up:
Double action is allowed
Single action is allowed
No need to carry on an empty chamber

Re: handgun hunting
I've hunted with and/or carried a handgun while hunting for a lot of years, I've never seen a PGC law that says you had to carry on an empty chamber. Why would you?
