Its not their fault! Its the gun for not being accurate and the department for not providing enough required training and societies for discouraging the use of firearms...
place the blame where its due! (sorry guys I just couldn't resist)The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

There's an old saying in law enforcement training circles;
It's cheaper to bury a cop than train one. Some agencies see the value in training and some just refuse to.
The mayor of the town I worked in took the money designated to purchase gym equipment for the police department and bought a new leather couch for her office.
