Default AR SBR - shortest lgth?

What would most of you consider the shortest practical length for 5.56?

Really...7.5, but there are pistol kits that are shorter, I want a full CAR handguard at minimum if at all possible.

Im planning a 7.5" barrel with whatever adapter for whatever suppressor I decide to go with under one of the "user configurable" free float tubes @ mid or 10" length...give it that SD kinda look, but not a lot of clutter on the fore end. I want the SBR to be as lightweight as possible. Im going to build it as a pistol first and then when I get the stamp, the stock goes on. I have the receiver and LPK already.

Where does one order these SBR barrels for the AR? I just got a RR lower and parts kit and would like to begin planning my SBR as well!

You can get them from anywhere that sells barrels. Consider that you will either need to get the approved form 1 before you buy the barrel/upper, or build it as a pistol AR first.

I was under the impression that until you can buy the barrel anytime, you need the $200 stamp before you assemble the parts and pieces. Not true?

Right, just having the parts can be considered the same as it being "readily able to be built"

I am looking to do a build an upper like that myself..
To fully complete your build will require two stamps.. One for SBR, One for Suppressor.

OK, but is 7.5" really practical for that round?

    IMO, no.

    I wouldn't go shorter than 10.5"

You're already loosing a LOT of steam.
