New search sucks.

I don't know if I'm the only one that's having problems with it but I can type in a thread title word for word and not even get it as a response.

The several times I've used it have all been total disappointments.

I agree, it was much easier when the search option was within the thread you wanted to look in. Only problem, it was kind of hidden and many users didn't know it was there. That caused us to have many many many similar threads when new users could have just found what they were looking for. Now the search bar is right out in plain view but the same thing happens b/c it simply can't find what you want it to, even if you know it's there.

I just punched in XD 45 because I knew that was a recent thread under pistols section and it's first result was a thread from 2006 "best opinions on xd 45".

What do you mean "was"? The 'Search this thread' option is exactly where it always has been: at the top of each page of a thread, near the right-hand side.

I think they may be referring to the general 'search' link on the top where "user cp, faq, members list, calendar, etc" line is.
