Default Talk me into keeping my Beretta 96D

I am thinking of selling or trading my Beretta 96D .40 cal. I fired it once, maybe 220 rounds of all types of ammo (HP, FMJ, Different makes and a few +P) without one malfunction. It also has night sights. I am unsure if DAO is for me even though I know it leads to better shot-to-shot consistency, especially from shots 1 to 2. Great ergonomics as well. I love the open slide too.

Would I be better off staying with my Kimber .45 as my primary home piece? I realize that this is purely an exercise in theoretics, but I'd love to hear what others think. Prices are so high now I'm tempted to trade or cash out.

Anyone with time to waste is welcome to chime in! Thanks!

Im a huge fan of the Beretta family of firearms. So much so that I'm dumping some Ak ammo and cash into one this weekend. Its the 1st handgun I learned to shoot w/ my LEO father before he died, I also carried one in the military, although not the .40cal it was 9mm. I have never owned a kimber but I have heard good things about them. But the Beretta line has a history for me.

I traded my PSP Beretta 96D to another member for a Savage 110 in .243 in very good condition... I love that gun. It was accurate as all get out, the long trigger pull was no problem for me, and the weight made the recoil almost enjoyable... I, however, felt an itch and wanted something new... I don't regret trading it, but I do miss it in my safe... Now my P95 is lonely... lol

You cannot go wrong with a Beretta, any Beretta... Keep the gun. They are, afterall, better than most women... lol

I personally have never been a fan of the Berettas. To me they just dont feel right and are too chunky round the grip for my taste. Thats just me though.

Is the trigger bothering you? If so, have you considered having someone work on the trigger to see if they can improve it? Other than that, why not try selling it or trading it for the same model with a da/sa or SAO action... if thats possible (I am not too familiar with the Beretta family of pistols other than all my friends telling me to stay away from them).

Thats because your friends are probably young and think if its not a Glock or a Sig than its crap. Beretta has been around for hundreds of years, literally. Thre is nothing wrong with that line of firearms.

    Freebird,

Here is my argument for talking you into keeping your 96D.

You have openly posted on a public forum trying to get people to tell you to keep it. That tells me that you want to keep it. Do so. That is all.

    Hey!!! lol

I don't know, I don't like Glocks and I'm not a huge fan of Sigs... I loved my Beretta, and I don't think I could part with the Ruger...

I have a Stoeger (Beretta) Cougar 8000 and I love it. I've always loved the 92/96 frames, too.

If you wanna sell it, you'll definitely find a buyer. But I'd keep it.
