Question May I open my back door and target shoot?

I was told as long as i'am on private property, I may target shoot as long "as its safe", what does that mean?

How close are your borders to your neihbors? Thier homes or other structures? Your backstop? Roads? So many variables.....you need to spell out the entire picture!

I don't know about where you live but in my township it is illegal to discharge a firearm, private property or not. I would check your local laws.

Do it all the time! What kind of township doesn't allow the discharge of a firearm?? Do you really mean there is no hunting in your township???

Hunting area by permissin of land owners, woods and farmland. Road about 150 feet away, houses and 2 barns about 150 feet away. Shoot into a hillside now.

I think that most areas have a rule something like 150 yards from a structure or residence. You should give a call to your code enforcement officer at the boro building or whatever you have there and see what the local ordinances state. Each town/boro has thier own rules that need to be known, but I would be surprised if your legally allowed to operate a firearm 150 feet from neihboring structures.

I will go to the township building today and read, they are open a few hours. Thank You. But, I thought the 150 yard law was for hunting only.

Check your local ordinances for discharging firearms and target shooting.

Game laws only apply if you're hunting.

The 150yd rule is without permission anyway so if you have a couple close neighbors and they're cool with it it shouldn't matter.
