One I would consider is the AR-7 Survival rifle.

(If I remember my old stats, I think it could float when broken down into the stock.)

Some more quick details through a google check:

    AR-7

After reading this next article, though, maybe it is not so good. Next link also offers alternatives.

I'd definitely keep the Mini-14 on the list (just because some do not like it, does not invalidate it).

That said, I have a real tough time counting the AR/M4's as significantly different rifles. I mean is there really that much difference?

I always felt it was just the government's way of making our soldiers feel like they had a new rifle design.

    You might be right.

Also in terms of the AR-7... I think it's rubbish. I held one before. The stock is ridiculously fat (width). It'd be great for back packing but not for a fun rifle.

I'm starting to think maybe I should get the Sig 556 rather than the AR15...

whats up with fs2000??? i mean it is trick looking but why would somebody pay 2000 on a rifle that most likely cant beat a ar-15 much less the $1200-1600 Colt

yeah i'm not sure why the price is so high. Then you have the Sig 556 for the same price as an ar15. I'm really split between the sig and the ar...
