Question Can you buy more then one handgun at once?

Can you buy two pistols at the same time? Or can you only buy one pistol each month?

    Thanks for your help

Currently, there is no "1 handgun per month" limit in PA, although legislators largely from the eastern side of the state have offered bills in an attempt to do so ...

Virginia, for example, has a "1 handgun per month limit" but Virginia CHP holders are exempt, also exceptions can be made in VA for bulk purchases (for example, an NRA Instructor wishes to purchase multiple pistols / revolvers for training purposes where it would be impractical to buy one a month, taking months to approach the needed number of units).

Although I would not be pleased by it, I could envision the present political climate seeing the Virginia model as a "reasonable" compromise if another attempt to limit to "1 handgun per month" gained some traction in the PA State House / Senate.

If you purchase more than one firearm during a single PICS check / using the same unique PICS approval number / during a 5 day period at the same FFL, an additional ATF form is required. I believe the copies go to local PD, PSP and ATF. (Not certain if local PD means YOUR local PD or the local PD where the FFL is located as of course you are not limited to purchasing in the area you reside).

My local FFL stated that the local PD requested he no longer forward them the forms as they did nothing with them, their take was "If the PSP / ATF / FBI performed the approval, follow up is their job."

well, if you bought one yesterday, today is i different month...

The form you fill out or the FFL fills out for the gun can list up to 3 guns on it, past that he needs to fill a new form.

Last time I bought, I was undecided between 2 guns, then the PSP came out I had to wait... Turns out the Sheriff had messed up my LTCF so once i got that straightened up, I was OK to buy... I decided to buy both guns...

You can buy as many as you want. But the ffl that you buy two or more from must fill out an extra from to be submitted to the atf. Some people have said that the atf might do a follow up because of this extra from, but I have never heard of a follow up visit from the atf.

Which doesn't matter at all, since there is no such standard. If you buy two or more handguns from the same FFL, within 5 consecutive business days, the extra form requirement kicks in.

Only if you buy both from the same shop.
