    Default Gun Shops in Lancaster

Where are they? Apparently I'm just clueless, but where the hell does a man buy a gun in this town?

There are a couple that I know of immediately.

There is one north of the city on 272, about 20 minutes out. It will be on the left, but I forget the name.

Then there is Malins Rod and Gun, South on 272/222 just above 372 in Buck, about 10 minutes south of Willow street.

There are, but I am not well versed in the area.

There is one in Columbia, west of the city.

There are a couple more in York, not too far a stretch of the legs...

Ok you have trop and Kinsey's in e-town. You have trout run in Ephrata on rt 272. Wolf's north of manhiem off of 72, backwoods outfitters in columbia. I'm sure there's more but their the ones I can think off of the top of my head.

Amazingly enough, there are no gun shops in Lancaster... or even real close to Lancaster. All of the Gun shops in Lancaster county seem to ring the city at about 15 to 30 minutes distance. I am not sure why. I have been thinking there is a real need for a gun shop within walking distance, especially with the traffic bottlenecks we have around here.

There used to be one in Millersville back in the 70's, it's now a pizza place.

You'd think there would be one downtown...you know, where they need it most.

Why in the city of Lancaster? High taxes, high rents in descent areas and then there always the suspicion of and the high probablity of getting embroiled in straw sales problems, especially in high crime areas. Ask inner-city Philadelphia gun store owners. If a larger than avg. percentage of guns used in crime by individuals other than your original buyers occur, chances are you will be investigated for straw sale violations. Largest dealer in Delaware County just outside of West Philadelphia got closed down for that very problem. Owners did not get arrested because of no evidence of intention, but it didn't matter. ATF puts enough pressure on your establishment you will give your license up. In this day and age where straw sales are perceived to be a major problem, the last thing one would want is to open a gun store close to a high crime area.
