    Default picking up mags

I see the prices for mags and the questions about which are better. The question I always ask myself is which ones would I be willing to leave lying on the ground and never pick back up.
We did not recover the mags in the jungles and believe me there were a lot left lying around.
Out of the twenty owned I do not preload more than three but can load pretty quickly or a family member can do this for me.
Do you consider this when you buy mags? Do you preload more?

I have all of my AR mags loaded. Not really sure why, I just do.

This always makes me wonder if some enterprising Iraqi could recover the AR15/M16 magazines discarded by our troops in the streets, and sell them back to us here in the states. Think of it like recycling!

Don't leave stuff behind that could benefit your enemy.

A dump pouch will let you hang onto your mags, and if you train with multiple people, you can have your partner / squad covering for you during reloads.

About the only time I'd consider just dropping a mag and getting going is if the weapon had a double feed and you have to rip the mag out to clear it.

I'd let my USGI mags disappear if I had to, but my H&K and PMAGS are coming with me.

Much of my ammo is on stripper clips, but I still have 8 loaded for the AR and 6 for the AK.

I'd rather have mags I know will handle high round counts, and can handle what might get thrown at them. I doubt i'll be to worried about the extra $5bucks i spent on the mag when i drop it while getting shot at in the jungle/homewood
