    Default Hollywood Firearms

I can't seem to find the post now, but earlier today someone posted a link to a site that identifies guns used in particular movies. It got me wondering... who owns all those guns? Are they just in prop shed somewhere? How are they able to use/have them in Kalifornia?

For example see the link to Terminator 2:
    http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title..._Judgement_Day

It shows them firing the real thing.

there are laws in Kalifornia and New york that allow use of MGs for movie purposes, and, often, the movie company will have licensed manufacturers(02/07/10 SOTs) on site as armorers, who can literally make a MG for the shoot, then destroy it when they are done, or register it as a post sample for LE/mil sale.

as the licensed MFG/armorer is on set while the gun is being used, the gun is being used legally.

however, there were LARGE companies that specialized in having armories for movie use, one of the largest was Stembridge Gun Rentals (now defunct).

most studio gun rentals have sold off thier valuable "transferrable" guns, and now utilize post 86 dealer sample built guns exclusively

obviously, these laws are for US, other countries may have more strict, or more lax laws on movie gun use.

    here is another current armorer:

I believe this is the site you were asking about, its owned by Dan Shea, proprieter of Long Mountain Outfitters

myself, i own a NFA movie gun. my Colt M16 (AR-15 mod 614 factory mg) was purchased from "Rings Studio gun Rentals" in Florida, and was used in several TV productions, and movies, such as:

    Clear and Present Danger
    Black Dog
    Toy Soldiers

and some Hulk Hogan TV series with a boat, called "Black Thunder"

rings studio gun rentals has a side business called:

    http://www.blueguns.com/

for training props....somewhere out there, my M16 is in use as a blue gun, as he took molds from real guns.
