Erie County Gun Permits - Sheriff Bob Merski
Erie County Gun Permits
Written by: Sky Yaple - YourErie.com
More young people are carrying guns in Erie County.
The Erie County Sheriff's office reports more men and women in their twenties are applying for a license to carry firearms.
The sheriff says he doesn't know exactly what is behind the trend, but he suspects an increase in hunting and target shooting could be the cause.
The number of concealed carry permits is up county-wide.
About five hundred more people applied for permits this year, bringing the number to about 10,500.
Erie County Sheriff Bob Merski says, "Am I alarmed by this? No. Because it's their right, and we revoke very few of those individuals. They're law-abiding people and they have a right to it."
Erie County’s license to carry firearms costs $26 and is valid for five years.
Applications are available in the sheriff's office at the Erie County Courthouse.Last edited by doug; February 13th, 2009 at 09:09 PM.

Re: Erie County Gun Permits
Damn fine Sheriff we have here in Erie County. The whole office there has always been good to me. My business takes me to the court house regularly and at least once a month or so I stop in there for the foreclosure listings.
Every time I read about some of the antics of other counties Sheriffs it makes me glad to know ours isn't like that."When the winds of change blow hard enough, the most trivial of things can become deadly projectiles." - Unknown.
