    Default Traveling with firearm

    I will be traveling out of Newark Airport in April for my honeymoon to the Dominican Republic. Am I safe to take my firearm into New Jersey unloaded of course and in a locked box? I have never traveled with it, how do I go about checking it in and making sure it does not get lost anywheere. Is there somewhere for me to look up any of this information?

    You can usually fly with your gun in checked luggage (check your airline's website), but I'd be more concerned about having a gun in the Dominican Republic. You should do some research on their gun laws.

    In order to carry a weapon in the DR you must be a legal resident. There is no way around this and gun laws are becoming more stringent in the country, so be careful.

    So basically you cannot take your firearm to the DR so there is no need to worry about how to carry through NJ.
