Not supprising with Obama as president now. Everyone is rushing out to get something in fear of what might lay ahead. I just purchased a handgun and rifle for my 2 daughters. The oldest being 20 right now. Not sure what kind of restrictions will be in place when she turn 21 later this year.

Re: Anyone elses shop having trouble getting hanguns?
All shops are having problems getting guns from their distributors. The demand has been very high, even prior to November. With Obama issuing executive orders every day, there is more concern that he will eventually address gun control.

Re: Anyone elses shop having trouble getting hanguns?
As LisaA pointed out. Demand has been historically high since prior to the election and is still going strong.
EVERYTHING is getting hard to find. Handguns, rifles, ammo even parts. Try to find the latest wiz-bang AR-15 parts..._________________________________________

Same over here in the republic of nj. Gun shops are very low with supplies.
I'm sure the old supply and demand is going to raise the prices higher in the near future. It's going to get worse before it gets better, especially here.

I know you are out in York, but if you want a good selection of guns come over here to Franklin county. On 997 about half way between the mall and Rt. 30 there is a little gun store called Conococheague Trade Co.
1482 Black Gap Rd
Fayetteville, PA 17222
(717) 352-7212
He ALWAYS has stuff in stock, even now. If not he can get it pretty quickly for you, I don't know how, but he has his hookups. I picked up an SKS post election for relativity cheap from him. I'd say on average he has at least 80-100 handguns on display. Check him out.

Re: Anyone elses shop having trouble getting hanguns?
Went to a store called Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday. Kind of like a Gander Mountain, or a smaller Cabella's. They've got a HUGE amount of space for ammo, both handgun and rifle.
There was NO handgun ammo available, except for specialty calibers like .44-40 and .38 S&W. No powders suitable for reloading handguns. One box of WSP primers, a small amount of Federal and CCI primers. Despite an entire row of shelves devoted to bullets, almost no handgun bullets. I took the last box of Berry's 124 grain HBFP DS bullets. The only other bullets was a box of Berry's 115 grain bullets, 2 boxes of Speer Gold Dot 9mm bullets, and two boxes of Lasercast bullets in different calibers. Out of a whole row.
Two funny things about this: the shortages seem to only be affecting handgun ammo. I can find plenty of rifle ammo available in all kinds of calibers, including .223 and 7.62x39, and plenty of shotgun ammo. The other weird thing is there doesn't seem to be as much .22 ammo on the shelves as usual. It's not out like handgun ammo, but there's not much.
Gun stores around here are pretty much the same, and Wal-Mart is out of handgun ammo. Big R's has handgun ammo in limited quantities, except for 9mm.Last edited by JoeWilliams; January 25th, 2009 at 11:37 AM.
