    Default Open Carry Community Beautification?

    Hey all,

Saw this video while scouring das interwebz and it seemed like a great idea.

In essence, these guys started community beautification (that word is used kind of loosely) projects for OCing. I don't know how charitable everyone else is on the board, but this seemed like a great way to both increase OC exposure and give a little back to the community. On top of that, I think people would be a little less inclined to call the police on a group of guys that are picking up trash

If anyone else thinks this is a good idea, maybe we could start thinking of locations to do this in? Trash-pickups, maybe plant some trees or something, I dunno. I'm not creative that way heh but I do think it's a great idea (at least if we did it when it got a little warmer ). Any others feel the same?

This is a great idea. I know the whole of York City would probably be a good area. I'm up for it.

I think it sounds like a great idea. There's no publicity like good publicity. All of those people passing by seeing that OCers are functioning members giving something back to their community could do the OC and gun communities good.

Exactly. Unlike other meets where it is a social thing, this could be viewed as legitimate positive press.

This has been discussed here before. But as with so many things, talking about it and doing it are two totally different things and gun owners love to talk...

All that needs to happen is someone step up and organize it. (hint, hint)

Whulp…..we’ve already got 5 separate NEPA’ers posting in this thread already….and one Pitt’er.

A more localized cleanup would be easier (schedule & logistics) to plan & manage than a statewide thing.

I can’t see the video from work…but I can infer its content.

Msquaredserver…..You’re the OP and get first crack at it.
If you don’t want to grab the bull by the horns yourself….I’d be MORE than happy to help organize a community beautification event (one that ends up with a lunch or dinner would kick ass!)

how about some type of food drive?

what about some type of informational dinner about gun ownership in pa, all proceed's go to some charity of pafoas choice taken by poll.

somewhere in NEPA we can have a big ass dinner, let the news know about it, get a bunch of people in there, have a lawyer or two from pafoa, or the top dogs on legal authority give a presentation about OC'ing and general firearms law in PA. Then afterwards we can hold a Q&A section, get some of the local news stations asking questions too. Hold something like this every few months, get people more involved.

Charitable fund raising OC BBQ, is that what I just heard implied?
I have plenty of free time so I'm almost guaranteed game for this. I should be able to get two more volunteers, but one we haven't been able to get to OC, yet.
