I never have understood the ban on carrying an automatic knife. You can collect them, just not carry them. D*, be careful in Philly...carrying any knife is illegal unless you are actively working in a job that requires a knife such as construction. This includes anything with a blade i.e. boxcutters. I carry a knife that opens as quick as any auto. It has a tab on the back ridge which is part of the blade. Just push it forward as you extract it from your pocket and the blade is out. 440ss, I prefer carbon steel but for some reason most moderately prices knives are stainless now. Carbon holds a better edge and is easier to hone. Got it in NJ of all places. There are also flick open knives but the take away an advatage in some circumstances. Sometimes you want an aggressor to know your armed, sometimes you don't.

This clears knives like the Buck Rush and similar, because you still have to manually move the blade a few degrees before the spring will take over. IANAL, and I cant cite sources ATM, but that is what I recall.
Normally only carry it while in Scout uniform anyways. Wasn't a Rush but a similar knife that buck sold a little while back. Chose it for price and quality of steel. Cabelas had it half off one time at $35 so it was a steal with 440ss
