UTAH Permit Course discounts for PAFOA paying members and registered users
GENERAL INFO FOLLOWS, PLEASE SEE MY LATEST POST IN THIS THREAD FOR CURRENT CLASS AVAILABILITY - THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hello all,
I am a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit course Instructor, covering 5+ states for the Utah program (hit 8 states last year). I am from Pittsburgh, PA and maintain a studio there from which to offer instruction. I travel out of Pittsburgh or my second home in southwest Virginia to cover other areas.
I am also a PAFOA approved vendor per PAFOA Founder / President Dan Pehrson, offering discounts to PAFOA posters, PAFOA paid members and LEO's.
-- standard course fee $80 per person
-- PAFOA registered users and PAFOA BRONZE members $70
-- PAFOA SILVER members and above $65
-- LEO's: PM me for details / confirmation
(revised discount program available Apr 1 thru June 13, 2009)
Fingerprinting fees, normally $13 per the state, are waived for sizeable enough groups in general.
("non-member" PAFOA posters have to have a registration date on or before a thread advertising a class or have registered 30 days prior to a class to receive the discounted $65 rate; paid PAFOA members have no registration date requirement)
I will travel to your group, basing my minimum head count upon my time, travel, fuel costs and hotel costs if any. Group minimum head count may vary from 6 to 20+depending upon location. PM me with your address / zip code for a head count quote. I commonly cover all or part of PA, WV, VA, NC, TN, also OH, KY, SC.
I do accept groups of 6 or smaller at my Pittsburgh area studio and maintain a "wait list" for folks who cannot gather a sizeable group, "plugging" them into open slots at my studio or into other groups IF they allow outside attendees (many do not for liability / privacy reasons).
Course does NOT require live fire. Instructor brings 6 - 12 demo firearms. Clearance drills / stoppages / jams are covered using safe, dummy ammo.
Host a class at your gun club, office, garage, living room - no problem.
You have up to 1 year following the class to submit paperwork and initial application fee ($65.25) to Utah, so you can spread your costs out a bit.
Utah renewals are currently $10 every 5 years, a simple 1 page form, no retraining or fingerprint resubmission required.
General questions can be answered in this thread.
More involved or specific items best handled by offering email contact info via PM.
I usually work the winter out of my second home in Virginia from mid-Nov thru mid-Mar due to PA / OH / WV's unpredictable winter weather. I will, however, be in Pittsburgh from time to time. Openings are available as of now at my Pittsburgh area studio located 1 1/3 miles from Interstate 79 exit 65 (Coraopolis / Neville Island exit). Weekday / weeknight sessions available upon request.

Re: UTAH Permit Course discounts for PAFOA paying members and registered users
Hey Kaos,
You're profile location reads as Pittsburgh.
If you are available Sat / Sun Jan 24 - 25, (or one of the weekdays following) print fees waived if attending course at my Pittsburgh area location.
As a BRONZE PAFOA member, you're out the door for $65.
Due to the short timeline, a postdated check for your course fee is do-able.
(can be postdated up to Tues Feb 3rd)
PM me for detals as to how to confirm your slot.
Next weekend's slots are going fast as it is the "bye" week preceding the Superbowl (no Steeler / NFL Games to contend with ... ).
Saturday Jan 24 is nearly full (have to check Monday's mail to be certain).
Sunday Jan 25 has slots available as of now...Last edited by BCI Instructor; January 17th, 2009 at 09:48 PM.

A very few open slots exist in PA over the next two weekends.
PAFOA users / members receive discounts as detailed earlier in this thread.
Post dated course fee payments are OK, you can take the course now if convenient, pay for the course later, then have up to 1 year to mail your app and fee to the state, allowing you so spread out your costs. PM me for details.
Course fee is normally $75, discounted to $65 or $60 for PAFOA users.
Fingerprinting services, normally $13 per the state, are waived.
I've just wrapped up a series of classes / travel in NC, TN & VA.

Closed dates:
-- Weds Mar 4 (AM / PM full)
-- Thurs Mar 5 (AM full / PM may be do-able) - STUDIO

Re: UTAH Permit Course discounts for PAFOA paying members and registered users
bump due to last minute openings available THIS weekend and next
(March 7 - 8 - 14 - 15)
Need to postdate your course fee a couple of weeks? No problem.
PAFOA discount still applies.
Take the course. Pay course fee same day or postdated a bit with my prior approval.
You then have up to 1 year after the course to send your application to Utah with the state fee (initial 5 year permit $65.25 / renewals only $10).
This allows you to spread out your costs a bit or align your payment with your biweekly / monthly paycheck, etc ...
I have a few slots available / "open to the public":
PITTSBURGH AREA
-- Saturday March 7th (1 or 2 slots still available) - STUDIO 900 AM
-- Sunday March 8th (1 or 2 slots still available) - Bigelow Blvd, Pittsburgh 930 AM
-- Sunday March 15th (tentative) - STUDIO 900 AM
-- most weekdays / weekday evenings during the timeframe of March 4th - 18th
ALSO
-- Saturday March 14th - State College, PA 900 amLast edited by BCI Instructor; March 4th, 2009 at 03:41 PM.
