    Default Aimpoint clones

A guy on Glocktalk (Glock281) is selling Aimpoint clones with mounts for $60.

    For $60 ea, I took a couple.

The packaging has an adhesive sticker that says:

    Aimpoint M2 Red Dot Replica
    30mm Monotube, logo on Mount
Logo on body, Red and Green Dot

    The box itself reads:

    PERFECT RED DOT
    Red/dot
    M2000/RD3000

    57'@100yds
    19m@100m

I don't have an actual real Aimpoint to compare it to but the body of the unit has the logo Aimpoint on it and also has CompM2 4MOA and a series of numbers under the 4MOA logo.

    Anyone see these before?

I was looking to put something on a couple milsurps I have since my dominant eye can't focus well after an injury.

The unit mounts onto the rail of my AR and appears to be cowitnessed with my front and rear iron sights (actually a little off to the left of my irons) but I haven't shot it to see how it hits in relation to the irons.

There are 6 settings on the rotary switch, 2 green, 2 red and two off. Each color dot has two brightness settings.

I'll bring the units to the pafoa group shoot and see how they work.
I still had planned on getting a real Aimpoint for my AR but wanted to see how these units functioned.

Who knows, they could wind up on E-Bay .

    Cheap ba$tard.

I have a Simmons red dot on my Hi-Point carbine. It's the only red dot I've ever used. It's OK, but in bright sun, it's hard to see the dot.
I'll bring it so you can compare if you wish. I think I paid about $70 for it.

You could stick one on one of those Glock "clones" that we saw. You know, the Glocks that don't work. Obviously cheap knock-offs!

I just got a Brand New Bushnell Trophy Red Dot for $50.

I put it on my FAL, but I haven't shot with it yet.

Emptymag, I followed your instructions and was wondering. Is this how this works?

Really doesn't matter WHERE you mount it on those faux Glocks!

27, I have the same (or very similar) unit. Bought it off ebay for around $50. It seems OK- at least comparable to my other Aimpoint clone...maybe better. Don't have a lot of time on it or rounds through it though.

I too was a bit puzzled at all the Aimpoint info on it, part number and all, seems almost like an Aimpoint second or something?

    Holleta,

This looks like a pretty fair copy if that's what it is.

The red and green dot with only 2 brightness settings each is certainly different.

If it's not made by Aimpoint, you would think there is some patent violation.

No..no....no......you mount them offset so you can use the optic when you shoot the gun sideways.

As for the cheap optics on an AR, I find they work quite well. The AR won't tear up an optic with recoil and as long as you are using it as a range gun they will serve you well. You can't tell by name brand either.....Leopold STD rings are horrible for guns with any real recoil. I ate three sets on my hunting rifle....and it has a brake.

    Lycanyoucangetbetterresultsbymountingitonthesideth rope,

I have to think Emptymag didn't think it through . I can hardly see the dot past my middle finger.

These units came without any information regarding batterylife, type of battery(I think a regular AP battery will work), sight adjustment.

I'll have to do a little trial and error on sighting in.
