    Default Concealed Carry question

    Hey guys,
New here...going for my cc permit this afternoon, I have a few questions.

Can my handgun be carried loaded, in vehicle or on my person ?
Will I still need a sporting permit to hunt with my hand gun ?
Can I carry concealed or open in PA state parks while camping or hiking ?
Will I get a hand book on the do's and donts of carrying ?

Seems like there could be alot of ifs and buts when it comes to carrying a handgun.
    Thanks for any info

Q:Can my handgun be carried loaded, in vehicle or on my person ?
    A: Yes with your LTCF.

Q:Can I carry concealed or open in PA state parks while camping or hiking ?
A: I believe a new law went into effect recently, you are able to carry. Hopefully someone else can correct me if I am wrong.

Q:Will I get a hand book on the do's and donts of carrying ?
A: You may or may not, it depends on your county, and sometimes what they give you has bad information. There is a list here on the site though.

For hunting, I am really not sure, someone else will have to answer that for you.

Here is a list of where you can and cannot carry.

Yes you can carry loaded and in your car with a valid PA LTCF. I am not positive, but in other states - concealed carry while hunting is allowed, but the gun that you are concealing cannot be used in any way to kill a game animal. Not sure about the state parks. You may get something, but I wouldn't treat it as the Bible, police departments have printed false information before!

    NO

YES/Although I'm unaware of an OC restriction in parks OC'ing can be viewed as being unacceptable

LOL! You might but I wouldn't believe any of it.

Here is a Handy flier that will answer a lot of your questions. Sometimes the hand out that the sheriff's hand out is not exactly what the law states.

Will I still need a sporting permit to hunt with my hand gun ? You dont need a Sportsmans Permit to hunt with a handgun as is, only to transport the handgun in a vehicle to the place of hunt and to conceal it during hunting. A LTCF will surpass and replace a Sportsmans Permit.

Will I get a hand book on the do's and donts of carrying ? Depends on Sheriff. Most of them "guides" are complete hogwash. If you need to know something, just ask here at this site.

Seems like there could be alot of ifs and buts when it comes to carrying a handgun. There is alot of ifs, ands, or buts for sure. Some black, some white, and alot of gray too.
    Thanks for any info

If you have your LTCF you don't need a sportsman's permit. I would point out you still can't hunt with a semiauto handgun. The rules that govern what firearms you can hunt with have not changed.

You will still need the Hunting License, the License to carry does not authorize hunting, and the Sportsman's Permit is only fr transporting the handgun to hunt.

    just a minor clarification

While hunting - You may still carry a gun for self defense, semi-auto or manual action. If you conceal it or transport it in a car you need a LTCF.

However you may only use a manually operated handgun to hunting, harvest and dispatch game.

To carry openly and concealed for self-defense during bow and/or front stuffer seasons, you need a LTCF.
