One of the conspirators in the break-in at McCrea's Gun Shop in Fenelton almost two years ago was sentenced yesterday in Butler County court.

25-year-old Matthew Hamersley, who is now doing time in federal prison, received his county sentence before Judge Tim McCune yesterday morning. He and his co-conspirators broke into the gun shop in June of 2007 by smashing a hole through the roof. Hamersley and his cohorts also engaged in a series of petty crimes involving unlocked vehicles in East Butler and Clearfield Township that evening and the day before. They also stole a car from the city of Butler, which they used to commit their crimes.

Hamersley was sentenced to four to eight years in prison for the heist, and ordered to pay more than $6,000 in restitution.
