Are firearms prohibited in bars?
Someone told me the other day that it is illegel to take a firearm into a bar. Is there any truth to this?
Before anyone gets upset, I definately think alcolol and guns don't mix. I just wanted to be sure I was not going to be arrested when I go to a resturant that also has a bar. I do have a license to carry.

You can tell your friend that they are full of crap. There is no law or regulation prohibiting firearms from bars in PA.

Re: Are firearms prohibited in bars?
Thats good..seeing how I've done that and all..
that being said if I'm at the bar I might have a drink an hour at the max, being built like a tiger tank, it takes a bit for stuff to take effect. So on top of the whole "you can't get shitfaced, your packing" I got the tolerence level going for me.

Re: Are firearms prohibited in bars?
Yeah.. Most of us who do pack while visiting a tavern keep in mind to stay sober.
I rarely, and I mean rarely drink. At about 160-165lbs, I'm good with a clear mind at a rate of 1-1.5 drinks an hour - which is how I keep tabs on myself. I also make it a point to eat a full meal too which helps.
If drinking is done in moderation, theres no harm in carrying while out. However, if you plan on getting tanked - leave the gun at home and get a designated driver or cab. ...or otherwise you may end up in the tank.

You can take your gun into a bar, I just wouldn't go flashing it around and let everyone know about.

Re: Are firearms prohibited in bars?
Theres no law saying you cant drink either when in a bar while packing.. ...maybe in some other states, but not in PA.
Its a matter of self control, not law. Its probably not good to carry if you intend to drink heavily. Your judgement will be impaired, people tend to do stupid things, beer muscles come with a beer brain, and to top it off you'll be less minded to keep control of your piece(retention).
If you decide it best for yourself to carry while out, be sure to know your personal limits when mixed with alcohol.

Re: Are firearms prohibited in bars?
Most states have "carrying under the influence" laws. We don't.
We really need a sticky up top with the places that are off limits and general carrying conduct for people to read. Although people probably won't read it anyways.
