    Default Sig 229 w/ Laser

Cabellas is selling a Sig 229 with the sig laser (3 in one laser, flashlight & strobe) for $950. Seems like a great deal. What is the differance between a 229 & a 226? Seemed like the 229 was just slightly more compact, but otherwise the same.

is this a new or used gun?

they are very similar, but the 229 slide is made different.

    this should explain the difference:

The P229 is the compact version of the P226. They are virtually the same other than the length of the slide. Both use a double stack magazine. The grips are very close in size. A P226 9mm 15 round magazine will even work in a P229 9mm. The P229 9mm magazines hold 13 rounds, while the .40S&W mags hold 12.

Here are some pictures that should give you an idea of the size differences between the two. The P229 has the wood grips.

Sig sells the STL-900L for $269.00. I've seen them around for $225.00
That leaves it at about $700 - $725 for the gun which is a good price if the gun is new and has night sights.

I carry a P229 w/o the light/laser quite regularly without any problems. I don't know how much bulkier it would be to carry with the 900L on it. Finding a holster that will work with that set up might also be a challenge.
