    Default Sig Sauer p229/p227

Does anyone own either the Sig Sauer p229 or p227 .40? Should i stick with my Smith and Wesson .40?

I own the Sig P229 and a Sig 226 and a Sig228. In my opinion they are the best pistols you can buy. By the way I don't think that they make a 227.

P229R equinox. My first sig & the pistol I will never get rid of. Beware they are addicting.

Big D is right - they are VERY addictive

The P229 was originally developed around the .40S&W. It was the first Sig to use a solid milled steel slide. The stamped slides couldn't handle the higher presures of the .40S&W round, so Sig designed the P229 with the heavier and more durable solid steel slide.

I've got two P229s chambered in .40S&W and I'll never sell either one of them. IMHO, they are the best compact .40S&W you can buy.

    BTW - Sig never made a P227

The second pistol I ever bought was a Sig P229R DAK with night sight and 3 mags for $649.99. I had that for 3 years and then a friend came across some hard times so I put it up for sale and got $700 for that same stuff and 1 box of ammo. Gave the friend $700 to help him out and he has since paid me back. I never got around to buying a 229 again though, damn it.
