Default Legality of giving spouse a handgun?

Buddy just bought a new LCP at gunshow this weekend. Wife decided immediately it was now hers. He asked me if he was allowed to give it to her or whether it had to be transferred to her, or what.

    I honestly don't know myself.

    Any ideas?

Yes it can be gifted from husband t wife with no paperwork being done. As long as she is not a restricted person.

    What normanvin said.

    Ref: 18Pa.C.S.6111(c)

The provisions of this section shall not apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and grandchild.

The only thing that would prevent him from simply handing it to her and it then becoming "hers" would be if he knew that she were a prohibited person (which I'm assuming is not the case).

Also, she can carry the gun even if it is still "his".
