    Default Winchester Model 55

Having owned a model 55 since late '60's, I have been told the gun is rare. I am considering reconditioning the gun but did not know if that would hurt the value. Can someone with the knowledge please advise what to do. Gun is in good condition with very small area of surface rust on barrel.

Take down or solid frame? Either way reconditioning means about a 50% decrease in value. Carefully clean the rust with fine brass wool and oil. Enjoy that old Winchester for what it is and the way it is. Remember there will be no more like them, ever.
